Ultra tight finances can really put the damper on summer vacations. That’s not to say you can’t visit an interesting place or experience something new with no budget at all. Even the smallest of communities offer abundant places of interest and recreation opportunities. A quick internet search of your local tourist attractions, local events, state parks, museums and community centers are a great place to start. Lately, I’ve tried focusing on places I can visit via foot or bicycle. The change of perspective makes even familiar places new again. Discovering local events also offers the opportunity to meet strange and exotic people…..your neighbors!
