SIMFEROPOL, the administrative, industrial, educational and cultural center of the Crimean peninsula, is situated in a vast hollow between the outer and lnner Ridges of the Crimean mountains, on the banks of the Salghir River. Sevastopol is the hero-city with a population of less than half a million people. It is located along the south west coast of the Crimea, about 70 km away from Simferopol. The Black Sea fleet, battles and victories, tragic and heroic events are the history of Sevastopol. I`ts landscapes are picturesque and unique. Sevastopol is a city of modern industry, shipbuilding, science and tourism.
